Marriage

Marriage

Couples who wish to be married in the Church should contact  the minister as early as possible to make the necessary arrangements.

Congratulations

Congratulations on your engagement! We are delighted that you have decided that yours will be a Christian marriage. Here you will find some information to help you in the planning of what we hope will be a most memorable and enjoyable day at the beginning of your life together.

The legal Requirements

You must submit Marriage Notices to the registrar about 4-6 weeks prior to the marriage.  Along with the Notice, you will require your birth certificates, and documents relating to any previous marriages.

The Marriage Notice (Form M10) can be download from www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/grosweb/grosweb.nsf/pages/gromar  where there is other helpful information.

The registrar will issue a Marriage Schedule during the week prior to the marriage.  This is the document to be signed at the wedding ceremony.  The Schedule must be collected from the registrar by the bride or groom in person, and the schedule must be given to the minister immediately prior to the wedding ceremony.  "No schedule - no wedding!"

The Schedule is then returned to the registrar, who will issue a marriage certificate.
