Let's face it. Boys joins the Boys' Brigade for many different reason.   Perhaps the uniform or the football team attracted them.  More probably they were introduced by a friend who thought BB was "Great fun".  A few may have joined because their Parents thought it was a good idea!

Whatever the reason, they are welcome, because The Boys' Brigade exist for THEM.

The Boys' Brigade or BB as it is often know as grown into a large international uniformed organisation, operating in over 60 countries world-wide with a membership of millions.  The local units are known as a Company, with each Company being part of a Battalion .  The 5th Kirkintilloch Company is part of the Strathkelvin Battalion, which currently consists of over 15 individual Companies.

The 5th Kirkintilloch Company operates four sections - Shipmate Boys - Primary 2-3 (6-8yrs), Junior Section - Primary 4-6 (8-10yrs), Company Section - Primary 7 - Secondary school age (11-18yrs)

The BB is a youth organisation of the Christian Church and seeks to present the Christian message in a way that is meaningful and relevant to boys.

The BB has a wide variety of activities appropriate to various ages and awards schemes that encourage boys to achieve they very best of their abilities. Boys are also encouraged to accept a degree of Leadership appropriate to their age group, from Leading Boys in the Junior Section to Senior NCOs in the Company Section.

It is hoped that the BB will help your son from early childhood through the difficult years of adolescence.  There will be many pressures on him as he progresses in his school life and he grows older.
The Officers in the BB are interested in your son as a person and will seek to help him live his life in a full and purposeful way.

We hope that you will fell it to be a very good thing for your son to be member of the Boys' Brigade.  Do please give him every encouragement to be regular and loyal member, otherwise he is unlikely to derive much benefit.  We would like to think of Officers as friends and please feel free to discuss with them any matter relating to your son.  They will be happy to give you any additional information about Our Company or The Boys' Brigade.

Safety & Safeguarding Policy
The 5th Kirkintilloch Boys' Brigade conforms with the safety & safeguarding polices of The Boys' Brigade and The Church of Scotland Church.  Further information concerning the rules applied to ensure safety of boys during Brigade meeting and activities can be obtained from the Company Captain.  All leaders are volunteers and are appointed by St Mary's Parish Church Kirkintilloch (The Church of Scotland) and the Strathkelvin Battalion
